Say my name, say my name

My name is Fleur Mai, and according to my mom she named me. :D My first first name –Fleur is a French word which means Flower and my Mai is basically from my birth month May, my mom just changed the y to i.

And, my Fleur have something to do with my birth month also. Its like this, i was born in the month of May and the Month symbol of May is flower, so basically my mom just translated the English word Flower to French.

When i was in elementary, my classmates, schoolmates and even my teachers calls me “Flor”, because they assumed that my Fleur is pronounced like my dad’s name which is Florecindo (flor-re-cin-do).

During high school though, only few people called me Flor already because i corrected them that my name is not pronounced like that, so they just decided to call me Mai, which is actually easier to pronounce. Hahaha. During my fourth year though, i have this teacher who knew that Fleur is actually Flower in English, and during that whole year he called me Flower May Festival and my classmates was like “Why do you call her like that?” and so my teacher explained them that my name is actually a French word and it’s not really pronounced like Florr. Good thing i had my English under him(Mr. Santos) or else no one would’ve have ever knew about my name! And my classmate’s & schoolmates would have continued called me Florr until now. Haha.

Though, there are still some that calls me Florr Mae, and I’m still okay with it. Ha Ha Ha

And due to that Florr Mae, when people ask for my name is just tell them “Mai” instead of “Fleur” because some people lets me repeat how its pronounced. :D
